Something Comforting: A Book Club for Self-Care (creative special)

  • At One Studio 127 Buckley Street Essendon, VIC, 3040 Australia (map)

Something Comforting is a friendly and supportive group where like-minded people can connect and inspire one another through the shared experience of reading.

We explore a wide range of mostly non-fiction books (with the occasional allegorical novel) covering topics such as yoga, philosophy, spirituality, mental health & self-development, using these texts to generate meaningful conversations and explore new perspectives.

We meet every 4-6 weeks to discuss our discoveries over tea and snack.

BOOK FOR THIS DATE:

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy

This one’s a little different from our usual reads, an allegorical picture book written and illustrated by artist Charlie Mackesy, exploring themes of love, friendship, and the power of vulnerability.

In a recent interview (listen here) Charlie also speaks to the importance of creativity for mental health. With that in mind, this meet-up will be more than just a book discussion…we’ll also explore our own creativity through mood boarding!

Some art materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along anything else you’d like to use. If you have any old magazines you’re happy to cut up, we’d love you to bring those along too.

$20 per person. 50% off for At One Members.

Tea and snacks provided, or feel free to BYO dinner.

Limited space. Booking is essential!

Please note: as this is one of our most popular events there is an 8 hour cancellation policy. If you can no longer attend please cancel your booking as soon as possible to avoid others missing out.
