Teacher's Gathering with Saskia & Sammy

  • At One Studio 127 Buckley Street Essendon, VIC, 3040 Australia (map)

Teaching yoga is a wonderful privilege, but it can also be a surprisingly solitary endeavour. We spend so much of our time planning classes, opening and closing studios, holding space for our students and reflecting on our teaching…often all on our own.

So, we’re creating something just for you! Join At One owner Saskia and international teacher trainer Sammy Furnival (all the way from the UK!) for a special afternoon created just for Melbourne’s yoga teachers.

An opportunity to practise for yourself, connect with other teachers, share experiences, learn from one another and simply enjoy being part of a community. Because while we spend so much of our time creating space for others, it’s important that we have spaces where we can be held too.

We’ll begin with a 75 minute practice, followed by light refreshments and a guided conversation on teaching yoga. There’ll be space to share your own thoughts and experiences, as well as listen, learn and connect with others in the community.

Whether you’re a seasoned teacher, have been out of teaching for a while, or are fresh off your YTT, everyone is welcome!

$40 per person.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:

SASKIA

Saskia, co-founder of At One Studio, began teaching yoga 8 years ago and has since completed 1,000 hours of training across a range of techniques and practices, including assisting and sequencing, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation and yoga therapy.

Her experience spans both the UK and Australia, where she has taught her own classes and events, worked with students 1:1, managed studios, facilitated retreats and YTTs, and, more recently, supported and mentored new teachers.

Saskia’s passion lies in helping teachers create well-rounded, cohesive classes that seamlessly weave together intelligent sequencing with deeper philosophical meaning.

SAMMY

Visiting all the way from the UK, Sammy is a renowned yoga teacher based in London. She completed her first yoga teacher training in India 12 years ago and has continued to deepen her practice and teaching through study with teachers including Jim Tarran, Bernie Clark, Sarah Powers, Ana Forrest and Michael James Wong.

Sammy has taught full-time for most of her career, both in studios and through teacher trainings and mentoring programs. She now runs a successful yoga retreat business, travelling the world to teach, share and connect with students and teachers across the globe.

Sammy’s particular interest lies in the art of assisting, as well as opening up conversations around the ethics of yoga teaching, how to honour and respect its traditions, seek consent, and create more inclusive spaces for all.
